If you are like me and have sensitive skin, it’s difficult to find the right sunscreen.
My skin is acne prone, dry in the winter and normal-oily in the summer, and very sensitive. I don’t want the heavy greasy feel and no thanks to the white line in the hair! It’s a tall order!
I can sum it up for you – no retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, octinoxate, homosalate, octisalate, octocrylene, avobenzone due to toxicity or cancer concerns. Some of these ingredients absorbs into the bloodstream! No to fragrance. Personally, no to cetearyl alchohol.
Yes to zinc oxide, titanium dioxide and Meroxyl SX / Ecamsule. Yes to broad spectrum. Yes to antioxidants. Because UV rays can create free radicals when hitting the sunscreen particles. Yes to SPF 30 or SPF 50. Yes to non comedogenic. Let’s get started!
Dr Dennis Gross Sheer Mineral Sun Spray SPF 50 – 4/5This sunscreen feels like a dream. However, it’s also quite expensive. The ingredients are beautiful and include green tea extract, amla extract, vitamin C, vitamin E. It is completely clear and leaves no white cast. However, it does leave the skin very shiny although that doesn’t bother me as I like the glow look. I believe it did break me out a bit. Vitamin C breaks me out, so perhaps why. I think many people would not break out with this, and if you don’t have a problem with Vitamin C, this may be awesome for you.

Avene Mineral Ultra Light Hydrating Sunscreen (Face) SPF 50 – 3/5
Overall a good sunscreen. It was not drying, or moisturising. It did leave a bit of a white cast and I did get the white hair line :(. It didn’t cause me to break out at all. In fact it seemed to calm down my skin. I did feel it a bit heavy on my skin and this was a bit annoying. It felt nice to wash it off in the evening.

Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Baby Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 50 – 3/5
It’s for a baby, it’s zinc based – check check. Unfortunately it does leave a white cast and it’s quite drying. Great for people with oily skin.
Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Face Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 50 – 1/5
I didn’t get very far with this sunscreen because it stung me when I applied it on my neck as a test. I kept going for about 4 days and each time it still stung me the same. I wasn’t interested in trying something that stings so much. But I loved the feel of the sunscreen – I felt very protected and it melted in the skin quite well.
